Kohima: The Directorate of Economics and Statistics in Nagaland is launching a massive enrolment push for the youngest citizens. Starting August 3, officials will register children aged five and under for Aadhaar identification. The campaign runs through August 14. It follows a direct mandate from the Unique Identification Authority of India.
Registration sites are ready. Teams will process applications at the main Directorate of Economics and Statistics office in Kohima. Workers will also staff District Economics and Statistics Offices in every district across the state. This initiative links birth registration directly to the national identity network.
The department insists this early registration helps families tap into government services. "Early enrolment in the national identity system would facilitate inclusion of children in various government services and welfare schemes, besides supporting better planning and delivery of child-centric programmes." Officials urge all parents and legal guardians to bring their children to the designated offices during this window to complete the process.
