Nagaland Adopts Digital Life Certificates for State Pensioners

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen signed a notification on October 6 approving the Jeevan Pramaan Digital Life Certificate for state pensioners. The government move simplifies the payout process. It removes the need for retired workers to show up in person to keep their monthly checks flowing.

Pensioners can now log into the Jeevan Pramaan portal to generate their certificates. They must use their Aadhaar number and Pension Payment Order (PPO) number to gain access. The system uses biometric authentication to confirm identities. This digital path covers all categories of state government pensioners. It also applies to those receiving central or other state government pensions through Nagaland institutions.

The Pension Disbursing Agency will now pull certificates directly from the online portal. They no longer require physical paperwork from a competent authority. As the official notification stated, the "Jeevan Pramaan Digital Life Certificate system will be used for verification through Aadhaar biometric authentication and will be accepted as a valid life certificate." This shift cuts out the red tape.
