Kohima: The Nagaland Department of Agriculture launched a new digital ecosystem to fix supply chain issues and give farmers better market data. Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan started the program at the Directorate of Agriculture in Kohima. He worked alongside Director Sanuzo Nienu to bring the system online. The Agriculture Production Commissioner called the initiative a "game-changer" for the local sector.
The platform uses AI to predict market prices and demand. It helps farmers decide what to grow and where to sell for the highest profit. Workers installed IoT sensors across the state to track weather and soil conditions in real time. This move promotes precision farming methods.
An AI bot named Kheti Manu handles technical questions for farmers. It speaks in local dialects to reach people in remote areas. The system also connects all district offices through a central hub and uses GIS services to manage resources. Officials claim this makes Nagaland a leader for digital farming in the Northeast.
Department leaders said the project aims to give farmers the agency they need to thrive. They stated, "With this ecosystem, we are ensuring that the benefits of digital progress reach every village, empowering our farmers to become competitive players in the modern agricultural economy." The system is now live across all district offices.
