Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav told young residents to balance tradition with fresh ideas. He spoke at the 2nd Youth Conclave-cum-Cultural Fest in Dimapur on Sunday. The event highlighted the state's diverse background. The Governor noted that the progress of the region depends on collective work across all ethnic lines.
He challenged the next generation to be architects of the future. The Governor urged them to stop hunting for jobs and start creating them. He told the crowd that "identity should unite rather than divide people" during the event organized by the Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland.
LMFN president Bishnu Bhattacharjee asked for better access to education and welfare schemes for long-settled residents. He pushed for a state-level advisory board to look after non-Naga permanent residents. He also distanced these families from illegal immigrants. The forum seeks clear status for those living in the state for generations.
Moatoshi Longkumer, advisor for Labour and Employment, reminded the attendees that respect is earned through conduct. He credited earlier generations of non-Naga communities with building local trade and services. The conclave wrapped up with a cultural performance after awarding youth leaders for their social work and athletic achievements.
