Nagaland Digitizes All Villages and Urban Local Bodies

Kohima: Nagaland finished georeferencing and digitizing every village and urban local body across the state. The Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre confirmed the achievement during a technical workshop held on June 23 for the Directorate of Census Operations Nagaland.

Senior Project Director Mhathung Kithan manages over 350 map layers for the state. He expects the GIS Centre to become a licensed training site for drone pilots within weeks. The office currently uses advanced tools and drones to track households.

Kithan emphasized the tech's impact on precision. He stated, "detailed mapping of every household can be carried out using advanced GIS tools and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle."

Officials toured the Drone Centre of Excellence to see 3D printing and drone assembly in action. Assistant Director Mhathung noted that his department needs significant technical backing for the upcoming digital census. Both agencies plan to work together on future mapping projects and artificial intelligence integration.
