Kohima: Nagaland residents should prep for bad weather. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority predicts thunderstorms and lightning across the state starting July 9 and running through July 12. Things will get worse as the weekend nears.
Kohima, Shamator, Mokokchung, Mon, and Wokha face the brunt of the storms on Tuesday. Other districts like Longleng, Noklak, Phek, Tseminyu, and Tuensang can expect lighter rain. By Wednesday, the system moves to target Shamator, Tuensang, and Mon with scattered rain.
The weather shifts again on July 11. Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Wokha, Dimapur, and Niuland will see localized lightning and rain. Heavy activity picks up by July 12. Heavy rain is possible in Kiphire and Tseminyu while thunderstorms lash Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Shamator, Wokha, and Zunheboto.
Officials want people to stay alert. The NSDMA has advised citizens to "stay updated with official weather forecasts and advisories." Residents can check the NSDMA website or the SAFER Nagaland App for live data.
