Kohima: Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer served as the keynote speaker at the Mount Mary College graduation ceremony held at Yashipokla Memorial Hall this Thursday. The event honored 142 students across the graduating classes of 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Addressing the assembly, Longkumer challenged the students to redefine their understanding of achievement. He stated, "True success is measured not merely by academic qualifications or career achievements, but by the positive impact one makes in society." He encouraged the graduates to maintain humility, compassion, and commitment as they navigate their professional lives.
Longkumer advised the new graduates to focus on developing practical life skills and technical proficiency to stay competitive in a changing global landscape. He reminded them that discipline and personal integrity are essential components of long-term success, urging them to take personal responsibility for their futures rather than seeking excuses.
The ceremony featured the presentation of several honors. Academic Excellence awards were given to Shangtsala Thonger, Visono Kehie, Sheangpong W. Konyak, and Zakieseno Hama. Student of the Year awards were presented to Kuputoli Zhimomi, Lihyeih T. Konyak, Vezhoto Tetseo, and Biben Yanthan. Additionally, Sheangpong W. Konyak received a special recognition for securing the 8th rank at Nagaland University in 2025.
