Kohima: The Naga Youth Movement delivered a formal memorandum to the Prime Minister's Office. They filed the paperwork through the Nagaland Governor on July 8. This move follows a massive rally held on June 27. The group now demands a clear path forward for the long-stalled Indo-Naga peace process.
The youth activists want the government to consolidate the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position. They demand full transparency regarding any roadblocks currently stalling these deals. The group set a hard three-month deadline for the government to show results. Failure to act will trigger civil disobedience.
Kuhoto Naga issued a stark warning to federal officials. He stated: "If the Government of India fails to act, we will have no choice but to initiate civil disobedience and non-cooperation movements." The group maintains they are neutral, inclusive, and strictly opposed to violence despite widespread frustration among local youth.
Members dismissed rumors that the movement is bankrolled by outside interests. They claimed the organization runs entirely on individual donations. Core member Hiketo Naga emphasized their independence. He noted that the group is not aligned with any specific political faction or government agency. They urged potential donors to deal with their official representatives only.
The movement previously sparked controversy by mentioning that youth might resort to arms. They clarified those words were spoken out of emotional stress. Leaders insist they remain committed to peaceful, democratic solutions. They are waiting for the Prime Minister to respond.
