Imphal: The Khanuithot-Khon, also known as the Voice of the Naga Youth, has issued a sharp condemnation following the murder of a truck driver near TM Kasom on National Highway 202. The organization argues that the tragedy highlights a systemic failure to keep the vital trade route between Ukhrul and Imphal safe for travelers and civilians.

In a statement released Friday, the group accused Kuki militants of repeatedly targeting civilian vehicles and commuters in the area. They expressed deep concern that security personnel stationed nearby failed to intervene, stop the attackers, or secure the location during the assault.

The organization criticized the current security measures, arguing that citizens should not have to transport essential goods under the threat of armed violence. They stated that the state and security forces have a fundamental duty to protect the public, which they are currently failing to uphold.

To address these concerns, the group is demanding the immediate arrest of the individuals responsible for the violence. They are also calling for more rigorous security operations, including consistent patrolling, area domination, and improved surveillance along vulnerable stretches of the highway. The organization urged the state government and central authorities to take decisive action to restore safety and hold those responsible for security lapses accountable.
