Naga Lawyers Association Holds First General Body Meeting in Imphal

Imphal: The Naga Lawyers Association, Manipur (NLAM) gathered at the Adimjati Shiksha Ashram Hall in Imphal this Sunday. Legal practitioners from across the Naga community attended this first general meeting. It was a major step for the group formed just months ago.

Advocates started the organization in August 2024. They operate under the motto "Strive for Justice." The current leadership team includes President Mark Khapai and General Secretary Khatter Playson Anal. These leaders will hold their posts until 2027.

The association creates a unified platform for Naga lawyers. Members met to hammer out a roadmap for their work and discuss the needs of their community. Their professional influence is already visible in the local courts.

President Khapai previously took legal action regarding the safety of Naga citizens. He filed a Public Interest Litigation with the High Court of Manipur on June 4. The petition demanded state intervention after Kuki armed groups allegedly abducted six Naga civilians.
