Naga Group Demands Action After Attack on Manipur Villagers

Imphal: The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has condemned an attack on residents of Konsakhul village in Manipur's hill region. On Sunday, May 31, three villagers were ambushed while working to repair a local water source that provides drinking water to their community.

FNCC Convenor NG Akhiu reported that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. During the assault, one villager sustained injuries while two others managed to flee into the forest. Those two villagers eventually returned to the safety of their homes later that day.

The committee alleged that members of the Kuki National Front-Presidential (KNF-P) were responsible for the violence. These claims remain unverified, and the targeted organization has not yet responded to the accusation.

Akhiu labeled the attack a dangerous act of violence against civilians performing essential work. The committee is now calling for the state and central governments to launch an investigation, improve security for residents living in the foothill areas, and hold the perpetrators accountable under the law.
