Naga Folk Artist Guru Sangyusang Pongener Receives Padma Shri

Kohima: President Droupadi Murmu awarded the Padma Shri to Guru Sangyusang Pongener on June 23. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Pongener is an 83-year-old folk artist and cultural guardian hailing from Nagaland.

He walked onto the stage in traditional Naga clothing. The room erupted. The audience applauded the veteran artist as he stepped up to accept the honor. Prime Minister Modi joined in the applause for the cultural guardian. The event marked the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at the presidential residence.
