Kohima: Hundreds of young people took to the streets of Mokokchung on June 30, 2026. They marched to fight the spread of narcotics. The Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation teamed up with the 12 Assam Rifles for the event. They called the rally Drug Abuse Prevention and Value based Living.
Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma led the start of the event at the Assam Rifles Ground. He praised the organizers for aligning their work with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Verma warned that families and schools must work together to cut the demand for illegal substances.
Expert speakers broke down the consequences of addiction. Lt. Col. Surender Singh warned that drugs tear apart the nation. Dr. Swapan Gupta, a neurologist from New Delhi, detailed the medical and psychological damage linked to substance abuse. He stated that the struggle requires a unified approach, noting, "Drug Abuse Prevention & Value based Living" remains a critical focus for the community.
The march ended at Police Point near the Ao Baptist Church. Participants took a formal Drug Free Pledge before dispersing. The rally aimed to push residents toward cleaner, value driven lifestyles.
