Aizawl: K. Laltluangkima claimed his seat in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. He brought a clear message for the BJP-led government. His support for the National Democratic Alliance will depend entirely on individual issues. The new senator plans to back policies only if they help the people of Mizoram.

The Zoram People's Movement remains independent. It sits outside both the NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc. This neutrality extends to the party's lone Lok Sabha member, Richard Vanlalhmangaiha. They intend to act as independent brokers in Parliament.

Laltluangkima keeps his focus tight. "My support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre would be extended only on an issue-based approach," he said. The ZPM formed in 2017. It is now a major power in the state. This double presence in Parliament signals a fresh shift for the regional party.
