Aizawl: Joseph Vanlalhruaia hit rock bottom before he ever stepped into a ring. Growing up surrounded by drug abuse in Mizoram, he fell into addiction and worked as a daily laborer to survive. He finally chose to change his life. He swapped self-destruction for pure discipline.

He started training at Spartans Martial Arts and Fitness in Kerala. His rise was fast. In March 2024, Joseph knocked out Taiwan fighter Yeh Lichih in Pattaya. The win earned him the 51 kg World Muaythai Organization title. He is the first Indian to hold that belt.

He did not stop there. He later beat a ONE Championship fighter from Vietnam. This string of wins caught the eye of Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma. He is now a local hero.

Joseph co-founded Thai Machines Xtreme Gym and leads the Team Joseph Movement. He works to steer young people away from the traps that once caught him. He keeps his advice to the next generation direct. "Life is hard—but you gotta fight through it."
