Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma led the third meeting of the Mizoram Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Mi-PRAGATI) on Thursday to evaluate the progress of key state infrastructure. Held at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall in Aizawl, the session centered on overcoming implementation hurdles and accelerating development initiatives.
A primary focus of the meeting was the proposed 224-kilometer railway line connecting Sairang to Hmawngbuchhuah in the Lawngtlai district. With an estimated budget of Rs 44,800 crore, the ambitious rail project is designed to include 20 stations across the state. Officials noted that the proposed site for the Thenzawl railway station will likely be relocated closer to the town, following an earlier suggestion by the Chief Minister to improve accessibility.
Beyond the rail project, officials reviewed 53 initiatives funded through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. Each of these projects carries a value exceeding Rs 3 crore. The discussion highlighted specific challenges causing delays and established measures to ensure faster completion, with officials confirming that they discussed "causes of delays and measures to accelerate their execution" for these rural schemes.
The review also covered a broad range of state flagship programs. Participants assessed the status of the Ropuiliani Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum, the State Tribal Institute, and various public works under the Public Works Department. Additionally, the meeting touched upon the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, PM SHRI programs, and ongoing work under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
