Guwahati: Assam Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika toured Nizarapar and Nakhola Grant on August 8. He came to see how the state is fighting artificial flooding in the Jagiroad region. The work is already underway. Crews are focused on clearing drainage systems to stop water from backing up into neighborhoods.

Hazarika walked the sites to verify progress. The minister grew impatient with the speed of current operations. He pushed local officials to finish the drainage repairs as soon as possible. He demanded the team "expedite the ongoing works and ensure timely completion of measures aimed at providing relief to residents affected by artificial flooding."

Residents have dealt with stagnant water for too long. These drainage improvements are the primary fix for the recurring logjams. Hazarika left specific instructions to keep the project moving forward without further delay.
