Guwahati: Assam Cabinet Minister Bimal Bora, acting as Guardian Minister for Sivasagar and Charaideo, has ordered officials to accelerate pending development works and improve the delivery of welfare schemes. During a review meeting on June 9, Bora emphasized the need for diligence in implementing both State and Central government projects.

A primary focus of the meeting was regional economic growth. Bora instructed officials to revive the non-functional pork processing unit in Nazira, noting that its restoration could create economic opportunities in the region. He also called for better support for local entrepreneurs in food processing and small-scale industries.

To assist youth and women in livestock farming, the minister directed the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner to develop a dedicated portal for government entrepreneurship schemes. This tool aims to provide prompt assistance to those receiving financial aid. As Bora stated, the portal would particularly benefit unemployed youth and women who have become self-reliant through livestock farming with the Rs 2 lakh financial assistance provided by the government.

Infrastructure remains a key priority for the district. Bora tasked the Public Works Department with holding weekly review meetings to ensure road and housing projects stay on schedule. In light of the ongoing monsoon season, he also ordered the administration to maintain readiness for potential flooding and provide timely aid to vulnerable populations. Nazira MLA Mayur Borgohain attended the session to support these initiatives.
