Meghalaya Plans Major Overhaul for Command and Control Centre

Shillong: The Meghalaya government wants to overhaul its Integrated Command and Control Centre. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma plans to install a unified command structure led by a CEO. This move aims to bridge the gap between departments and sharpen public service delivery.

Police, the Urban Affairs Department, and local municipal workers already use the platform. Now, officials want more. They proposed adding drone technology and extra surveillance cameras to tighten monitoring and emergency response. Success depends on better integration.

Sangma recently studied the command centre in Hyderabad. He liked what he saw. The Telangana model uses tight micro-management to get ambulances to crash scenes faster. Officials hope to replicate those results across the state, pushing services well beyond Shillong.

“The objective is to see how we can further improve its functioning and make it more productive,” Sangma said. Expansion remains the main goal.
