Shillong: Meghalaya starts a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls on June 30. Booth Level Officers hit the streets for a month of door-to-door verification. They need to fix the state voter database before the July 29 deadline. This push covers all 60 Assembly constituencies across the state.
Officers will hand out self-enumeration forms to anyone listed since 2005. The Election Commission set that year as the baseline for the current project. They want to catch errors and confirm voter details are correct. Officials aim to make sure every eligible person stays on the books.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal asked the public to work with the teams. He pushed residents to have their documents ready and fill out forms quickly. "The objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to include eligible voters, not exclude them," Baranwal said. The commission expects this work to keep voter lists solid for upcoming elections.
