Meghalaya kicks off electoral roll revision with thousands of forms

Shillong: Electoral roll revision started Tuesday in the East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts of Meghalaya. Workers pushed out more than 7,800 enumeration forms on day one. Booth Level Officers are handling the distribution at polling stations. They need to finish collecting all paperwork by July 29.

East Khasi Hills targets 898 polling locations across 15 Assembly constituencies. West Shillong led the pack with 391 forms issued. Pynursla followed with 375. Other areas like Mawsynram and North Shillong also saw heavy activity.

West Garo Hills saw 4,513 forms move on the first day. Officials there already digitized 147 forms. Phulbari took the top spot for distribution with 1,147 forms. The district counts 396,914 total voters. Women outnumber men by 1,141.

District Election Officers want everyone to help out. They issued a statement telling citizens: "The District Election Officers in both districts have urged residents to cooperate with BLOs and submit the filled forms within the stipulated timeline to ensure accurate and updated electoral rolls ahead of future elections."
