Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has confirmed that official discussions with the Assam government regarding long-standing border disputes are set to resume in the near future. This diplomatic initiative aims to address the remaining areas of contention along the shared boundary between the two states.

Following the recent swearing in ceremony of the new administration in Assam, Chief Minister Sangma indicated that he would allow a brief period for the new leadership to settle into their roles. Once this transition period concludes, Sangma intends to initiate contact with his counterpart in Assam to formalize the next phase of negotiations. The Chief Minister reaffirmed that a peaceful, dialogue-based approach remains the primary strategy for achieving a sustainable and permanent resolution.
