Agartala: Donation boxes at the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple were opened on Monday for the first time in three months. A dedicated team of 16 officials, appointed by the Gomati district administration, processed the contents of 16 different chests throughout the day. Despite localized rain showers, the counting process remained under strict security and was expected to conclude by late evening.
The administrative audit revealed a diverse collection of contributions, featuring Indian currency alongside various international denominations. Recovered foreign funds included US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepalese currency, and Bangladeshi Taka. This wide variety of notes underscores the temple's rising status as a destination for pilgrims and tourists from across the globe.
Highlighting the day's events, CRPF Constable Buddhadev Das made a significant personal contribution by donating his full first month salary of 33,310 rupees. This act of devotion resonated with staff and onlookers present during the counting.
Temple management confirmed that the gathered funds are earmarked for vital infrastructure projects. The revenue will support the ongoing maintenance and renovation of the sacred shrine, the execution of religious festivals, and the enhancement of overall facilities provided to visiting devotees.
