Imphal: Karong Onkholer filed a criminal defamation complaint against his ex-wife, Olympic boxer Mary Kom, in a Delhi court on October 6. The case sits before Judicial Magistrate First Class Shivam Gupta, with a hearing set for November 19 to review pre-summoning evidence.

Onkholer claims Kom damaged his reputation during a television interview aired on January 11. He argues the remarks painted him as dishonest, unfaithful, and unemployed. According to the filing, Kom accused him of stealing money from her bank accounts and neglecting his duties as a father. Onkholer maintains these claims are false. He stated, "The claims were false and had the potential to undermine his reputation, particularly his standing as a spouse and father."

The pair married on March 12, 2005, living together in Faridabad until their marriage ended through customary practice on December 20, 2023. Onkholer asserts that rather than being unemployed, he sacrificed his own career to support Kom during her boxing years. Advocates Akash Krishna and Pragati Sharma represent Onkholer in the ongoing legal action.
