Guwahati: Floods have forced 2,829 people from 1,133 families into 14 relief camps across Assam's Tinsukia district. The Margherita Co-District Administration counts 2,051 adults and 778 children among those displaced. Families are staying in schools and warehouses including Margherita Town LP School, Margherita Old Colony PWD Warehouse No. 1, Alubari LP School, No. 1 Fakiyal LP School, Khagoripather LP School, Likhajan LP School, Sat Joymoti LP School, Maharam Boro LP School, Nabajyoti LP School, Mullang LP School, Bashbari LP School, Jagun LP School, Namphai Tapu Relief Distribution Centre, and Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi ME School.
Relief workers are delivering rice, dal, edible oil, salt, water, and tarpaulins. They also set up sanitation and lighting. Medical teams from the Ketetong Block Primary Health Centre hold regular check-ups at the sites. Vulnerable groups get extra nutrition, while cattle fodder is now reaching impacted farmers. The administration maintains a Flood Control Room at the Office of the Circle Officer to manage the crisis.
