Imphal: Naga villagers intercepted a Scorpio SUV on National Highway 2 Sunday morning. The vehicle carried a sign reading CoTU Medical Team. Volunteers from a local village pulled the driver over near Namdilong under the Sekmai Police Station. They found beer, liquor bottles, and a spray can inside. The group destroyed the alcohol on the spot. They let the driver go with a stern warning.

The Committee on Tribal Unity quickly distanced itself from the SUV. The group claims they only use official ambulances for medical work. They rejected the incident as a dirty trick to ruin their reputation. The organization stated, "The organisation maintained that its medical relief operations are carried out exclusively through its designated ambulances and officially authorised vehicles, and not private SUVs."

Tensions remain high on the Imphal-Dimapur road. The committee recently gave the government 48 hours to clear roadblocks on the route. They now want answers from the people running the Namdilong checkpoint. The group demands to know how a private car got flagged as a medical transport.
