Manipur Police Constable Found Dead at Official Residence in Imphal

Imphal: A 32-year-old Manipur Police constable was discovered dead in his official residence at the Langol Housing Complex in Imphal West on Saturday morning. S Ramreishang, who served as an escort for the Director General of Manipur Police for Law and Order, was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the quarters assigned by the state Home Department.

The incident was reported to the Lamphel police station at approximately 7:30 am by the constable's wife. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and transported the body to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal to undergo a post-mortem examination.

Authorities confirmed that the victim's wife reported no suicide note was present at the location. Police have officially registered an unnatural death case, and investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances of the incident. A spokesperson noted that a formal probe is currently underway, stating, "An unnatural death case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident."
