Imphal: Manipur DGP Mukesh Singh arrived in Chandel district on Monday for his first official visit. He opened a new cyber cell to boost local security. Superintendent Dharmendra Tyagi hosted the event. ADGP Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo joined the DGP for the trip.
Community leaders from the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation and other tribal groups gathered at the police conference hall to meet the top brass. They discussed ongoing law and order challenges. These groups provide vital support for regional stability.
The DGP praised the public for keeping the peace. He also set clear expectations for the next generation. "He encouraged community leaders to motivate and guide the youth of Chandel to prepare for the upcoming Manipur Police recruitment drives and to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities."
Justice remains a priority. Singh promised that police would hunt down those behind the May 13, 2026, killings of six Nagas at Konsakhul. He also signaled plans to build more police stations across the district to improve coverage.
The DGP reviewed police work on drug busts and illegal weapons seizures. He later met with Assam Rifles officials to sharpen coordination between the military and local forces.
