Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the Exclusive Special Court for the National Investigation Agency at the Thoubal Court Complex in Khangabok on Monday. This new facility aims to improve the state's judicial infrastructure by ensuring the rapid trial of scheduled offences and cases investigated by the federal anti-terror agency.

The event drew several high-ranking officials, including Outer Manipur MP Alfred K. S. Arthur, Home Minister K. Govindas Singh, and the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur. The court was established following a June 5, 2026, Gazette Notification from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, which designated the location to handle cases across the entire state.

Highlighting the impact of this development on the legal system, the Chief Minister posted on social media that the court would "facilitate the speedy disposal of NIA cases while promoting fair, transparent and timely justice for the people." The facility is situated on the third floor of the Annexe Court Building within the Thoubal complex.

This addition marks the second dedicated NIA court in the state, following the designation of a similar court in Churachandpur in May 2025. Officials expect the new court to ease the backlog on existing judicial benches and enhance the overall efficiency of handling sensitive investigations in Manipur.
