Imphal: Manipur Director of Environment and Climate Change T Brajakumar Singh has issued an urgent warning that the current generation holds the final opportunity to protect the planet from a mounting climate crisis. Speaking at a state-level symposium for college students ahead of World Environment Day, he emphasized that failing to act now would lead to environmental conditions that are difficult to comprehend within the next six decades.
The event, titled Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future, drew participants from 23 colleges. Brajakumar highlighted the visible impacts of climate change, such as melting glaciers, rising sea levels, unpredictable rainfall, and climbing temperatures. He stated that these environmental shifts represent significant threats to modern society.
Brajakumar argued that fostering public awareness is the primary step toward solving these ecological challenges. He called for a revolutionary commitment to environmental protection, noting that individual contributions are essential. The department continues to prioritize youth engagement, viewing the students who participated in the symposium as key figures in the broader fight for the planet's future.
