Kohima: Leaders gathered at the Chief Medical Officer's hall in Longleng on July 8. They met to study the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017. The event aimed to stop discrimination and improve prevention efforts. DISHA Longleng organized the session with backing from the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
Speakers K Bongyei Phom and L Yingloi Phom pushed for a society free of stigma. They broke down the legal rights guaranteed to people living with HIV. These laws protect dignity and mandate fair treatment. The presenters urged the crowd to carry this message home. They want participants to serve as "awareness ambassadors in their respective communities and institutions" to fight the spread of the virus.
The day ended with a talk among those present. Attendees promised to back legal protections and push for an inclusive future. They left the hall ready to lead on health education.
