Kohima: Longleng civil society groups want the Changtongya-Longleng road fixed now. They gathered June 29 to blast the state of the two-lane route and demand a progress report within seven days. The groups are working under the Phom Peoples Council.
The road is falling apart. It hits the local economy and makes travel dangerous. Phom Peoples Council president YB Angam Phom said the poor condition caused immense hardship for people living in the district. Commuters are paying the price for the stalled project.
These groups have talked to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited multiple times. They met with the district administration and the contractors too. Nothing changed. The road remains in shambles despite these persistent pleas.
Authorities must now explain the delays. They have to submit a full status report on construction progress and maintenance plans within a week. If the government fails to act, the council promised further steps to protect the public interest. The organizations will keep fighting until the road is fixed.
