Kohima: The Kohima district administration is shutting down a section of National Highway 2 on July 26. The road closure runs from 6 am to 6 pm. Crews need the time to finish restoration work near Chiechama village. The work zone sits at Chainage 33+300 km on the Kohima-Botsa stretch, specifically near the Seven Sisters Hotel.
District Magistrate B. Henok Buchem issued an order to clear the area for workers. He stated that the closure is necessary "in the interest of public safety and to ensure smooth execution of the restoration work." Heavy vehicles face a total ban on this segment throughout the day.
Light motor vehicles must use mapped detours. Travelers heading from Kohima toward Tseminyu and Wokha should turn off at Chiechama at KM 33+115. These drivers must pass through Botsa before they can rejoin the highway. Commuters driving from Wokha and Tseminyu toward Kohima will divert at Botsa, located at KM 37+100. They need to use the route through Teichuma and Zhadima to reach the highway again at KM 16+150.
