Kohima: Election officials are gearing up for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The Election Commission of India recently announced the 2026 update. Kohima will host an awareness session to kick off the work. The meeting starts at 12 noon on August 12. It takes place at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
District Election Officer B. Henok Buchem wants key stakeholders in the room. He requested the presence of presidents and general secretaries from every recognized political party in the Kohima unit. Tribal leaders and community groups must also show up. The list includes the president and general secretary of the Angami Public Organization. Two representatives from every Kohima-based Tribal Hoho are also on the invite list.
The session aims to ensure broad participation across the district. Organizers need help from various groups to get the job done right. Attendance is also required for one representative each from the Hindu Kalyan Samithi, the Kohima Masjid Committee, and the Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima. Buchem noted the event is "being organised to create awareness and facilitate greater participation and cooperation among political parties, tribal bodies and other stakeholders in the electoral roll revision process."
