Kohima: A single doctor is trying to run the entire Community Health Centre in Pungro. The facility serves the whole area, but it remains dangerously understaffed. Local Congress leaders visited the site on July 6 and found the lone physician overwhelmed by patient volume.
The doctor must juggle daily out-patient visits, emergency care, inpatient needs, and maternal services. Kiphire DCC President K Tsalimong claims this lack of personnel creates a major burden. It breaks the healthcare system. The committee warned that the current state of affairs poses a “serious risk to the well-being of the people.”
Public access to quality medicine has suffered. The party is now pressuring state authorities to send more staff to the clinic immediately. They want enough doctors on the ground to handle the load and give residents the care they deserve.
