Kangpokpi Chemists Push Manipur Government for Community Ambulance Funding

Imphal: The Chemist and Druggist Association, Kangpokpi District, wants state cash to buy a 24-hour community ambulance. Members pushed for the grant during the September 25 opening of their new district headquarters. SDC-HQ Papao Touthang, representing Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar, inaugurated the site. Evangelist Seijang Chongloi dedicated the space, while guests of honour included Drugs Inspector David Letgoulien Gangte and Town Committee Chairman Seilam Singsit.

Road disruptions and security hurdles keep people in remote areas from reaching referral hospitals. Critically injured patients and pregnant women suffer most. The association submitted a formal request to Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. They plan to run the ambulance on a non-profit basis. The members are pooling personal resources to get the project moving. They state, "the cost of purchasing and equipping a fully fitted emergency ambulance was beyond their financial capacity."

Beyond the vehicle, the group wants the Deputy Commissioner to supply two desktop computers and printers. This gear will help with online drug licensing and digital record keeping. They aim to track registered pharmacies and coordinate medicine drives more effectively. Modernizing their office will sharpen administrative response times. The association now waits for the government to act on these urgent community needs.
