Kakching Backs New NIT Manipur Campus

Imphal: The Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation in Kakching officially backed the plan for a permanent National Institute of Technology Manipur campus. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh dropped the news on August 4. He spoke at the NIT Manipur convocation ceremony held at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. Construction is coming to Kakching.

The group expects the move to bolster technical schooling and spark socio-economic growth across the district. They want the State Government to break ground soon. They specifically asked officials to fast-track the project by prioritizing academic buildings, residential housing, and other core infrastructure. It is a big win for higher education.

The organisation released a formal statement regarding the shift. They stated, "The establishment of the permanent NIT campus at Kakching would strengthen technical education and contribute to the socio-economic development of the district." Now, they are calling on all stakeholders to cooperate to ensure the new campus becomes a reality.
