Guwahati: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is expected to visit Guwahati on July 1 for high-level summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the update regarding the diplomatic visit on his social media platform, noting that the event represents a key moment for the state.
This announcement follows a recent visit to the region by a high-level European Union delegation led by Ambassador Herve Delphin. The delegation spent two days in Guwahati exploring new avenues for trade, investment, and strategic partnerships as part of the broader India-EU Comprehensive Strategic Agenda.
Highlighting the state's recent economic performance, Sarma pointed out that Assam is currently exceeding national growth averages. While discussing the state's potential for international commerce, he stated, "India is growing at 29 per cent, and Assam is growing at 45 per cent. So that is the speed, that is the momentum we have. I think our economic growth trajectory will support the investor who will come to Assam to invest."
Sarma remains confident that the progress made over the last five years positions Assam as an emerging hub for global business. He expects the state's resources and industrial expansion to play a central role in attracting further international interest.
