Shillong: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reports that the country continues to receive regular supplies of domestic cooking gas and fuel despite international supply chain concerns. In the last three days, officials delivered approximately 1.49 crore LPG cylinders to meet a booking demand of 1.40 crore units. Authorities confirmed that no fuel shortages exist at distributorships nationwide.
To ensure efficiency and prevent product diversion, the government has transitioned toward digital operations. Online bookings now account for 99 percent of requests, while delivery authentication code based deliveries have reached 96 percent. The Ministry stated, "Citizens are advised to avoid panic purchase of petrol, diesel and LPG and to beware of rumours and rely on official sources for correct information."
While crude oil prices have risen due to the Middle East conflict, the government reduced excise duties on petrol and diesel by 10 rupees per litre to shield consumers. Refineries are currently running at high capacity with sufficient crude inventories to maintain domestic stocks. The government also continues to push for piped natural gas adoption, with over 12.5 lakh new connections facilitated since March.
Oil public sector undertakings are conducting surprise inspections to combat hoarding and black marketing. Recent enforcement actions include penalties on 19 LPG distributorships and 14 retail outlets, along with the suspension of 461 petrol pumps for violating market discipline guidelines.
