Five Injured After Speeding Car Crashes Into Roadside Eatery in Ri-Bhoi

Shillong: A speeding car crashed into a roadside eatery in Umdihar along National Highway-6 on Thursday, leaving five people injured. The accident occurred at noon when the driver of a Maruti Suzuki Swift, traveling from Shillong toward Guwahati, allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to high speeds.

The car veered off the road and plowed directly into the structure, which was owned by Lapilang Syngkli and Daiahun Lyngdoh. The force of the impact caused the eatery to collapse. Among those struck, three residents of Umdihar village, identified as Wanshanbor Lyngdoh, Bambukstar Syngkli, and Neverson Sylliang, sustained serious injuries. Two others suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Emergency responders transported all five victims to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for urgent medical care. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
