Imphal: Imphal West district is launching a Special Intensive Revision of its electoral rolls to ensure an accurate voter registry for 2026. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh announced that the process will cover 390,196 registered electors across the district.
The revision schedule begins with house-to-house visits by 530 Booth Level Officers from May 30 to June 28. During these visits, officials will distribute pre-filled enumeration forms to residents. Residents can also submit their details online through the official Election Commission portal. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, kicking off a month-long period for public claims and objections that concludes on August 4.
Authorities will resolve all submitted claims by September 2, paving the way for the final electoral roll release on September 6. The district has deployed 13 Electoral Registration Officers and 13 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to manage the implementation. The Election Commission of India has designated July 1, 2026, as the official qualifying date for this phase of the exercise.
Officials clarified that no documents are required during the initial enumeration phase, though 13 specific documents have been approved for verification later in the process. The district has promised that no names will be deleted without providing electors an opportunity to be heard. A two-level appeal mechanism remains available to citizens even after the final rolls are published, with further recourse through the District Magistrate and the state Chief Electoral Officer.
Special provisions are being made for internally displaced persons, including those residing in relief camps. A dedicated help desk is now active at the Imphal West DC office, and citizens may also utilize the ECI helpline at 1950 or the ECI Net mobile application for assistance throughout the revision period.
