Guwahati: Students at Haflong Government College in Assam launched a protest on June 8 by locking the campus main gate. The demonstrators are demanding transparency in the evaluation process and a fair review of recent examination results.
Protesters claim that many candidates received inexplicably low scores, with some failing to reach double digits. Additionally, a significant number of students report that they have yet to receive their official mark sheets. The students previously attempted to resolve the issue on June 2 by submitting a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of Assam University via the Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner.
The group requested that the university address these discrepancies by June 6. After receiving no response, the students decided to escalate their actions. Their demands include a formal re-evaluation of answer scripts and the immediate release of all pending documentation.
The demonstrators warned that they will continue their campaign if officials fail to provide a prompt solution. While the protest caused visible tension on the campus, authorities noted that no untoward incidents occurred. A student representative stated, "The protesters demanded re-evaluation of answer scripts, complete transparency in the assessment process, and immediate issuance of mark sheets to students who have not yet received them."
