Guwahati: Two young men in Guwahati are transforming lives by offering free calisthenics training to local youth at Uzan Bazar Park. Twenty-year-old Tilak Basfor and Ayush Talukdar lead daily evening sessions for about 15 students between the ages of 10 and 20. The initiative began when local children started watching the duo practice and eventually requested to join in.
The training sessions aim to draw children away from mobile phones and encourage them to pursue physical fitness. By using open park spaces and basic equipment, the trainers provide a valuable opportunity for students from underprivileged backgrounds who might otherwise struggle to afford gym memberships or professional coaching.
The group meets every day from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to practice pull-ups, balance exercises, and stretches. Basfor and Talukdar emphasize that the community they are building relies on discipline and mutual encouragement rather than expensive fitness gear. They hope to continue welcoming any interested local youth who want to improve their health in an accessible and supportive environment.
