Guwahati: The Rotary Club of Guwahati West teamed up with Apollo Hospitals on Sunday to run a massive health camp for World Heart Day. They set up shop at Malati Sen Memorial Hospital in Jyotikuchi. Local support came from the Bharat Sevashram Sangha and the Jyotikuchi Senior Citizens Welfare Association. The work is vital. Rotarian president Pawan Kumar Goel, Dr. Rituparna Barua, and hospital staff kicked off the event.
A crew of medical experts provided care. Dr. Rituparna Barua handled cardiology, while Dr. Lutfur Rahman Pradhani, Dr. Parvez Jahan, Dr. S K Sharma, and Dr. M Hussain managed general medicine. Dr. Hirak Jyoti covered dental health. Dr. Sarnajay Mishra led the CPR instruction. He showed the crowd how to save lives during a crisis. Other attendees included Dr. Ashish Sharma, Krishna Barua, Krishnendu Roy, Sanjay Agarwal, Subrata Sharma, and Dr. P K Choudhury.
The team screened 128 patients in total. Doctors performed 52 ECGs and 66 lipid profile tests. Everyone received checks for blood pressure, sugar, weight, height, and oxygen levels. The clinic gave out free medicine to every person who attended. The organizers want people to take heart health seriously. Dr. Mishra taught the group how to react to cardiac arrest during those first few moments, noting that participants were trained in essential techniques that "can be used during the critical initial minutes of a cardiac emergency."
