Guwahati: More than 200 people marched through North Guwahati to mark World Heart Day 2026. Doctors, students, and local residents took to the streets. The event targeted cardiovascular health and heart disease prevention.
GNRC Medical, North Guwahati, Asian Institute of Nursing Education, and GNRC Medishop teamed up to host the walk. National Taekwondo medalist Diganta Bora joined Dr. Krishna Chandra Narzary and Dr. Sudeep Dutta Baruah to flag off the start. The pace was steady.
Dr. Dutta Baruah opened the event by calling for active public involvement in healthcare. He pushed for local communities to take charge of their own medical habits. Dr. Narzary reminded the crowd that heart health requires work. He told the attendees, "regular physical activity, a balanced diet, stress management and timely health check-ups" are necessary to keep the heart strong.
The organisers stated the walk reflects a long-term push by GNRC to boost health awareness. They want people across all walks of life to adopt better habits. The group finished the route to highlight the fight against cardiovascular disease.
