Guwahati: East Guwahati Police stormed a hideout in Amtola Basti and took a local drug peddler into custody. The raid at the Byrnihat site netted a haul of narcotics and stolen hardware. Officers cuffed 30-year-old Nehar Begum after finding her stash.

The search turned up 67 vials filled with 78 grams of heroin. Police also found 214 empty vials ready for use. Detectives believe Begum acted as a fence for thieves, as the haul included nine mobile phones, a laptop, and a tablet. Officers also seized Rs 1,36,080 in cash from the scene.

The Basistha Police Station is running the case. Officials confirmed the arrest and the start of legal action against the suspect. "Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the narcotics and trace other individuals linked to the drug trafficking and stolen property network," a police spokesperson stated. The hunt for her accomplices continues.
