Guwahati Authorities Mandate Flyover Inspections and E-rickshaw Curbs

Guwahati: Kamrup Metropolitan District officials are cracking down on city traffic risks. District Commissioner Swapnil Paul chaired a meeting at the District Commissioner's Office to overhaul safety protocols. Attendees included Manjit Barkakati, Raja Baishya, Abhijit Choudhury, Mrinmoy Goswami, Tamsin Aftab, and Himanshu Kumar Das.

Rain triggers frequent skidding on the Maharaja Prithu Flyover. Paul ordered a sub-committee to monitor all city flyovers and stop accidents before they happen. Officials also drafted a plan to manage the flood of e-rickshaws currently clogging local streets.

Nightlife spots face new heat. Bars and hotels authorized to run 24x7 must supply transit for guests. The District Commissioner stated, "The committee also held detailed discussions on the regulation and rational management of e-rickshaws to ensure smoother and more orderly traffic movement across the city." The Excise Department and the District Transport Officer will enforce these rules.
