Guwahati: Security staff at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport saved a traveler a small fortune. CISF personnel spotted an unattended bag at the Terminal 1 screening area on June 26. The traveler left the item at the Automated Tray Retrieval System. It was gone.

Inside the bag, officials found US$10,720, 175 Chinese yuan, and various medicines. Airport workers tracked the passenger by checking names on medicine strips and reviewing CCTV footage. They confirmed the traveler had already boarded a flight to Hyderabad.

The recovery effort required sharp teamwork. Airport teams worked with the CISF and authorities in Hyderabad to verify ownership. The bag eventually reached an authorized representative. Airport officials stated the incident highlights the "effectiveness of security protocols and coordination among various agencies in ensuring passenger safety and the safe recovery of lost belongings."

Adani Airport Holdings Limited operates the facility. The successful return proves their security systems work under pressure. The airport serves as the main gateway to Northeast India.
