Kohima: Nini Meru cut the ribbon on the World Girl Guide Centenary Memorial Building on October 6. The facility sits at the State Training Centre in Nerhema, Kohima district. Meru, a Life Member and First Vice Patron of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts & Guides, served as the special guest for the ceremony.
She pushed the youth to treat scouting as vital life preparation rather than just a game. "We do not know what is ahead of us. We do not know what we are going to face," Meru told the crowd. She also emphasized keeping faith in Jesus Christ, reminding the younger generation to stay ready for both their earthly lives and eternity.
Yanpolumi Humtsoe, the State Commissioner for Guides, chaired the event. Rev. Vilaryii Üsou of Nerhema Baptist Church opened the session with prayer. Vimezhonu Tetso delivered the keynote address, while building committee convener Nancy Kikon presented the report. The project succeeded through the work of committee members M. Sale, Nino Iralu, I. Amenla Soyah, and Thejazeu Khruomo. Additional furnishings came from contributions by Khrienuo Tachii. The World Girl Guide Centenary Memorial Building Committee organized the day, which also honored the 92nd birthday of senior guide captain V. Bano Sakhrie. State Chief Commissioner Chubanungla closed the event with a vote of thanks and a final prayer.
