Shillong: A group of 286 Scouts, Guides, and volunteers wrapped up a three-day training event in Garobadha. The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, South West Garo Hills District Association, hosted the camp at St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School from September 24 to 26.
The group included 89 Scouts, 171 Guides, 13 service members, and 13 staff from local schools under the District School Education Department. Twelve schools participated in the program. The camp ran under the direction of District Secretary Pular D. Shira, along with District Organising Commissioner Debar A. Sangma and District Training Commissioner Victor Derama T. Sangma.
Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, principal of the host school, opened the event as the chief guest. He pushed the students to focus on character and community. "Uphold discipline, teamwork, responsibility, and the spirit of service," he said. The students spent the week practicing leadership and self-reliance.
A Grand Campfire highlighted the schedule. K. R. Marak, principal of Ampati Government Higher Secondary School and a former MBSG District Secretary, attended that night as the guest of honor. Participants left on September 26 after pledging to keep the core values of the scouting movement.
